Biography
Rémi Bolduc is a highly accomplished and respected jazz saxophonist and educator with over 40 years of experience in the music industry. He is an associate professor at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal.
As a musician, Bolduc has released 11 jazz albums, featuring collaborations with notable musicians such as Kenny Werner, Marc Johnson, Ben Monder, and Jerry Bergonzi. He has also designed three saxophone models for the Expression company, which bear his name.
Bolduc’s musical talent and expertise have earned him a dedicated following, with audiences captivated by his dazzling virtuosity and mature musical style. Since his arrival in Montreal in 1982, he has been highly active on the music scene, participating in numerous projects and recording several albums. He has been a member of various bands, including the Bernard Primeau Jazz Ensemble and the Vic Vogel Big Band, and has worked with saxophonists like Sayyd Abdul Al-Khabyyr, Simon Stone, and Bob Mover.
One of his most notable projects is the CD “Tribute to Charlie Parker,” which won the FÉLIX award for Best Jazz Album at the 2011 ADISQ. His other projects include The Random Masters, a tribute to Dave Brubeck, and Sax Zenith with PJ Perry, Phil Dwyer, Kirk MacDonald, and Kelly Jefferson. Bolduc is also recognized for his innovative contributions, such as his involvement in the creation of the Twigg Musique saxophone series.
Bolduc’s dedication to his craft and impressive body of work have made him a highly regarded figure in the world of jazz. Beyond his musical achievements, he is a Yamaha Artist and D’Addario Canada Artist. He actively participates in educational initiatives and workshops, fostering the next generation of jazz musicians.
